El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical forest in the US National Forest system, is located in Puerto Rico and is a must-visit for nature lovers. Here, you can hike through the forest’s many trails, swim in its waterfalls, and even take a kayaking tour through the forest.
San Juan, Puerto Rico’s capital city, is also worth a visit. Old San Juan, with its Spanish colonial architecture, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to explore in the city.

19. Curaçao
Part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands located in the southern Caribbean Sea, Curaçao is a popular destination for visitors from all over the world. It’s also the “C” of the ABC Islands.
The island is best known for its beaches, which are some of the best in the Caribbean, but it’s also pretty famous for its orange-flavored liqueur by the same name. That’s right, Curaçao is the birthplace of Curaçao liqueur, and visitors to the island can tour the Chobolobo distillery where it’s made!
While there are many different types of orange liqueurs on the market, only the ones made on this island use the peels of the Lahara orange, which is indigenous to Curaçao.
The island is also home to the Hato Caves, a series of limestone caves that were once used as a shelter by the native Arawak people. Today, visitors can explore the caves and see the various stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over the years.
Perfectly situated between Europe and The Americas, Curaçao is blessed with ideal temperatures, cooling trade winds, and sunny days year-round. This makes it the perfect destination for those looking to escape the cold winters of the north or the hot summers of the south.

20. Cuba
Last but most certainly not least, we have Cuba, the largest island in the Caribbean. Cuba is best known for its rich history, beautiful beaches, and of course, its cigars.
The Cuban Revolution of 1959 put an end to the Fulgencio Batista regime and ushered in a new era for Cuba under the leadership of Fidel Castro.
Today, visitors can learn about the country’s tumultuous past by taking a walking tour of Havana, visiting the Museum of the Revolution, or touring the Ernesto “Che” Guevara Mausoleum.
For those looking to enjoy some time on the beach, Cuba has plenty to offer.
Varadero Beach, located on the Hicacos Peninsula, is one of the most popular beaches on the island and is known for its clear blue waters and white sand beaches. Other popular beach destinations include Cayo Santa Maria, Guardalavaca, and Trinidad.
Cuba is also home to some of the best cigars in the world. Cuban cigars are hand-rolled using tobacco leaves that are grown in the country’s Vuelta Abajo region. Visitors to Cuba can take a cigar-rolling workshop, tour a tobacco plantation, or visit one of the many cigar factories on the island.
Popular resorts on the island include The Melia Cayo Coco, The Melia Varadero, and The Iberostar Ensenachos. Budget-friendly accommodation can also be found at Casa Particulares, which are privately owned homes that rent out rooms to travelers.
